Eat Cake..........

Hi

Today I am sharing my DT card for the  new challenge which starts today at Glitter N Sparkle  Hope you can join in for Challenge 173 Embossing - Dry or Heat.

This week my image is Baking Love - Lemon Shortbread

I have coloured this gorgeous image with promarkers before cutting with an oval die and then embossing with a sizzix folder - I have to confess this step was a - what if moment - but I loved the texture achieved on the image which really made her pop, the edges were inked with victorian velvet distress ink to achieve another layer and show u the texture.   Next an oval aperture was cut from a piece of pink ColourCore card which was then embossed and the design was sanded back, a layer of pink patterned paper was added behind the aperture before adding my image. Edges of the card base were also inked with Victorian velvet, lastly pink gems were added.

I would also like to play at the following challenges

Lemon Shortbread - anything goes
Cute Card Thursday - challenge 410 Ladies Only
As You Like It - Favourite One or Multilayer project( & why) - Multilayers always for me love the texture you can achieve and with layers

I have gone with a distressed look today Kraft card was washed over with gesso and embossed, corners were sanded back, hearts were cut from corrugated card, added a doily and some burlap all the edges were distressed, this was then mounted onto a square white card.

Crazy Birds

Hi
The Craft Barn have a new Alpha/ Dictionary challenge running and as I had so much fun joining the last one which was 2013........where did that time go........I was amazed! Anyway to say I was excited to start a new journey with this challenge is an understatement really love to play with stamps and inks and this is why I have chosen to do Art Journaling Pages, with the dictionary meaning for each word added to the pages |(one of the rules). All the details are on their blog follow the link above.

the letter chosen for this first challenge  is "B".  My chosen AJ is watercolour paper pad and I have strengthened the perforated edge with tissue tape to ensure the pages stay put.  I will decorate the front cover along the way.

I have used the Crazy Birds stamps and dies for this my first page.......they were a Birthday present last week and I just had to use them for the first time, I love their quirky characters, they were stamped in versafine on a background created with water colour paper using aquatints inks.
The page background was created firstly with gelatos which I have not used before...they were a free gift with a magazine. I was amazed at the colour they hold, I scribbled them over the page and created a wash with water, will be using these again I'm sure.

My next step was to take anything that was on my desk for adding layers........distress inks through stencil, splatters of distress stains, text stamp Tim Holtz,  and a lid dipped into Aquatints Ink.  After much enjoyment the time was to stop........I do find this step hard to do ......lol.  Lastly stick Crazy Birds on their perches.  Dictionary definition was cut from dictionary.

Hope to see crafters from challenge 2013 along the way.  The Link to my 2013 Alpha challenge is here where you can see my altered dictionary pages.

I would also like to play along at the following challenges

Winter Stag

Today I am sharing a card I made for A milestone birthday recently celebrated by my DH one he was not very happy with....but he loved his card lol

I used a new stamp to me first time inked from Clarity Stamps and my old favourites distress inks.

Stag was stamped in black versafine ink and I used masking fluid to mask him first then I applied Distress Inks stormy sky, faded jeans and chipped sapphire to create the winter scene behind him, Stag was then filled in with Vintage photo. This was then cut with a circle die, next layer was inked in stormy skies and faded jeans for the background, last layer again card cut with die, tattered lace. Sentiment stamps are Kanban.

My Image is from Patties Creations - Fairy Ambia

I made a Centre Step Card for my image to take centre stage, I coloured her with Derwent Inktense Pencils which I blended with water for a soft watercolour wash effect, the white space around the image I spritzed with Fairy Dust lol, (really Distress Inks).

Butterflies were punched using Martha Stewart punch, from the paper and card lastly gems were added to Ambia's skirt and the butterfly bodies.
