Silence is Golden................

Hi bloggers hope you are all safe and dry I can not believe the weather we are experiencing  rain and more rain and here it is so cold windy and wet today.
Today I am going to share my latest entry  for the Q & L challenge at The Craft Barn.  If you not sure what I am talking about click on the link for The Craft Barn and all will be revealed.

For challenge #2 we have the choice of 2 words Silence and Dazzle.  Well the first thing that popped into my head was the song Silence is Golden by the Tremeloes, fabulous song at the time and I have been singing it every since lol.  I have made an ATC with a tag pocket thingy.....

Firstly apologies for photo's the light here is so poor today. I cut a tag with Tim Holtz large tag die and folded up the end to make a pocket to hold the ATC.

The tag was inked with distress ink wild honey dried marigold I added rusty hinge through several masks one was a retro circle design, another was dots and lastly bars.  I stamped and embossed in gold with a stamp from my Tim Holtz  stash.

ATC was inked in the same inks and stencils the "eyes" stamp is an really old one  and knew I had to use it as it went so well with the words, I embossed the edges with gold embossing which also stuck to the wet ink which I had forgotten to dry so a happy accident as I like the result.  The words I typed and printed out on the computer, cut into strips and inked the edges with rusty hinge.

Who remembers this song and is still singing away, would love to know let me know if you drop by.

Thanks for looking again I have really enjoyed making this project just wish the light had been better for the photos  the flash wanted to work but that left a shine on the embossing and obliterated the design hey ho!!

'till next time

Guitar Boy.............

A quick post with a quick card made for my Grandsons 9th Birthday I always have the same brief for his cards "Red" it is his favourite colour always has been, finding an image for him gets harder as he is getting older I really don't have many male images for young people.  After a rummage this stamp from Lili of the Valley (which I am ashamed to say has never been inked) came to the rescue, ........he has  started learning to play the guitar so it was perfect.

The image was washed with Distress inks and water cut out with spellbinders I also cut a mat from coordination's red card and sanded a little, 9 and Happy Birthday are Kanban Stamps, patterned paper and a card blank and voila it was done.  Inside - I added an insert printed from CD rom with a special verse for a special Grandson.
He loves to receive a card made by me and always asks before he opens it  "did you make it Nanna" and his face lights up when I say yes he rips it open and really studies the card asking questions............it really is a pleasure to make his cards just to see his face light up..................

I would like to play at the following challenges

Lili of the Valley  anything goes
Tando challenge    Bold and bright
Frilly and Funky The Warmth of Winter
A Little Bit Crafty Celebrate
Heck of a challenge  New

Time for a Tag........................

Hello bloggers and welcome to my new followers thank you for joining me on my crafty journey.
I am a very happy crafter today because I have managed to make my first Tag of Tim's 12 tags of 2014  yippee :))  I failed miserably last year not one was made :(

I followed Tim's tutorial on the link above so will not be describing the how to, although I have had to improvise (that is a word you will hear a lot during the 12 tags journey) with the dies and products I had in my stash.  The background was made with distress stain frayed burlap and I inked through the weathered clock die (a spare) with pumice stone distress ink.

Not having the remnant rubs, I stamped numbers in black archival ink instead.

As you will see I have used the Weathered  Clock Die for the main image and different stamps, everything I used will be listed at the end of the post.

The stamp learn to pause ....was stamped onto vanilla card and cut out inked with black soot, in place of the stickers Tim used.  Cogs were added to the tag.

In this close up you can see the splattering which I did using an old toothbrush, which gets you very messy, I "need" a splatter brush lol!  I also rubbed black paint into the Time Tag, which I attached with small safety pins.

I have really enjoyed making this tag and although I followed Tim's techniques I also enjoy finding what I have in my stash and improvising becomes part of the enjoyment, I am really pleased with the finished tag................. roll on February can't wait.

I will be linking this tag over on Tim's blog, pop over if you already haven't there are some amazing tags to be seen.

Music is Love............

First card for 2014 and playing at some Challenges!

Hello bloggers it has been a while since I have posted (or even made) anything worth posting so today I will share with you one of the many birthday cards I have to make this month as we are still on the Birthday roundabout in our family one birthday every 4 days starting at the 8th with DD's and it was her 40th so it has lasted 3 days!!!! Then after my birthday on Thursday the gap shortens to 3 days ending with our Grandson who will be 9yrs old......seems like yesterday I had my first cuddle, he still gives me a hug when he first see's me I wonder how long that will last.......... February brings an end to the family birthdays for a while with our Son's I have quite a few friends who have birthdays in Feb then a break for quite a while phew! Anyway enough chatter here is my card

Quite a fast and simple make for Hubbies Birthday 12 Jan yesterday, the main inspiration for the card came with the guitar sticker I have had for at least a year which I bought for his bday card last year then lost somewhere in my crafty stash and it came to light in September when I had a tidy up in my crafty room!!!  The embossing folder Adagio from Couture Creations is another item that has remained in the packet for yonkes and yonkes (I know I'm a bad,  bad crafter ). The music actually runs diagonally in the folder in case your thinking I put the card in crooked....... :))

I cut a  circle with spellbinders die before I embossed and stamped the words in Archival coffee ink and the treble clefs in tea dye distress ink, from Creative Expressions stamp set Vintage Child onto the spare circle, this was glued to the card blank and the embossed piece was lifted with pads. Tea dye ink matched the guitar colour so well.  All  edges were inked with vintage photo which I also applied to the embossed piece.  Lastly Happy was stamped one side and birthday was stamped and punched from same card, Ink Coffee Archival, Stamps and punch Stampin' Up!

This year I would like to play more in my little room of crafty stash and join in at more challenges so with this in mind I would like to join some challenges with this card and they are

Country View Cards.............. Monochromatic
Our Creative Corner..........No More Shopping Sins .............Guitar Sticker and Embossing Folder
Fab 'n' Funky ...........Lets Celebrate
Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge.............Monochromatic
