WOYWW 28 JULY

Thanks for the welcome last week on WOYWW and I enjoyed looking at your desks even though I didn't manage many, I know I'm late with this post but Julia's words "you have to post every week now"  have been ringing in my ears all day so thought I had better post late or not!! Lol
This is the state of my desk after a last minute crafting last night to finish an altered canvas project for AIM which was my  last post if you want a peek here. You'll also notice the CC book left out from that challenge, I didn't tidy up before just moved things around a bit!!
I abandoned my desk for my bed and this is the first time into my craft room today  as I had to set out early this morning and have only just got back.  Can you see the small space left  at the front which was my actual crafting area - I really must clear my desk before I start anything else!!

Will pop by tomorrow and look at as many desks as possible

Bye for now

Home Canvas

 July - Home sweet Home

Where did July go ???? I have only just made the deadline with a few days to spare for this months Alter It Monthly challenge.  This had me scratching my head and my mojo just didn't flow until tonight when I found hidden in my stash this mini canvas and easil which I have had for ages and ages.

For my "Home is where the HeART is" canvas I used  DI scattered straw shabby shutters and barn door I inked all over the canvas and then lightly went over it with tea dye to dirty it up a bit as it was a bit bright which is an understatement; actually it shouted at you  too bright lol; I used the same colours onto a craft mat and spritzed then swooshed card over and let this dry, then I used 3 sets of mini alphabets to stamp out the small words.  The heart and HOME word are grungboard which I inked in barn door shabby shutters ,tea dye and broken china, stamped over with a florish stamp from Tim Holtz visual artistry collection as was the corner stamp which I embossed in TH Distress Powder faded jeans. Black soot was used to edge all the tiny words and the heart

Other items  used Stampin' Up! stamps for the little house and papermania adhesive stones

Thanks for looking

CCC WEEK #7

Here we are again another week and another CC Challenge from the lovely Linda at StudioL3, for those of you who may have just dropped in or been on another planet maybe CC is A Compendium of Curiosities book from Tim Holtz, hop over to Linda's blog and find out about all the fun we are having. Oh and I almost forgot some fabby news about prizes etc.

This weeks challenge is Tinted Vision Fragments, so I have made an ATC for this weeks page in my book, which was taken from TH paperstack Retro Grunge they are already sized,  Fab; which I have stamped and inked within an inch of its life; LOL. I've made it easy this week as I don't have much time to play and used stamps from TH collection Regal Flourish, Lion was stamped in black versafine as were the corners, DI barn door was used for the flourishes around the Lion, edges were inked with barn door, black soot. The fragment was....................nope sorry can't say ( you will have to get the book and join in.) Alcohol Inks used were red pepper, pebble, pitch black then this was attached with glossy accents over the lions head.  When dry I added some distress crackles to the edge - not sure now if it needed it -  oh well to late!
Background (book page) was cut with Nestabilities die and DI scattered straw barn door and black soot were applied.

Background music page was DH's find at a car boot and he left it lying around - what can I say he may never see it again -  rofl.

Thanks again for all the comments and support last week, there was some fab art again by everyone. I will try and pop by as many blogs as possible to see this weeks fantastic art and leave comments.

UNDER WATER SCENE

GC Colour Challenge 60 - Shades of Blue

Well after todays stress related project see earlier post - trying to alter a few things on my blog and blogger on a go slow I retreated to my little crafty space and created a wall plaque and let the stress of technology fade away for now as I still have to fix my blog - but not today!!!

This idea came to me when I found the seahorse die cut last week - heaven knows where it came from it was lying in a box of stash just waiting to be found again, I adore seahorses and would dearly love to see one in real life. So with no idea what I was going to do with him/her I reached for my trusty DI's in tumbled glass stormy skies and broken china and swooshed the seahorse into the mixture and when he/she was dry I glittered with Cosmic twinkles sky blush, then I made a background on a watercolour board with the same mixture of DI's as before with chipped sapphire and faded jeans added to the mixture, then that was it no more inspiration and it sat on my desk just waiting - then while rummaging in my very untidy room today I found some stamps which I am ashamed to say were just shoved ooops I mean placed in a box not sure who's they are or when I had them but there were two that looked like seaweed - ah light bulb moment and away I went this afternoon stamping seaweed in all of the above colours, then I inked a TH grungeboard flourish (now seaweed) with tumbled glass, broken china and stormy skies and glittered with the same cosmic twinkles, which has changed colour on the darker inks, now my seahorse had a home and I tucked his/her tail onto the seaweed to live happily ever after on my wall. (not quite sure where yet)
Sentiment is TH stamp from shabby french set cut with nestibilites die.

This is the first time I have used watercolour board for a hanging and am pleased with the results

Now I have loaded up onto blogger the seahorse looks very light but I took the photo in an horrendous thunder storm and the flash wanted to play so the seahorse is showing up lighter than it is, as flash reflected on the glitter.
here is  piccy below without flash but that's too dark wish you could see what I can see in real life.

WOYWW #59

Well I've decided to do it -  but please remember this is a first time for me so please be gentle LOL; I have looked from afar and decided today was the day I would sharemy desk and post on WOYWW my craft room and desk are an horrendous mess, I've not had much time to craft lately so I quickly pop into my crafty space and play but just don't have time to clear up and everything has been piled up everywhere even the floor - no I am not brave enough to show all my room!! remember this is my first time lol; on my desk you will see the latest thing I made which was a tag for Hels challenge on Sunday Stampers and left overs from other playtimes.

Bye for now

JOURNEY

I had small opportunity to play last night so made a Tag for Hels challenge over at Sunday Stamper
So I started with making a background with worn lipstick, broken china, mustard seed, shabby shutters and chipped sapphire DI - I must have needed a  bright fix as the day had been so gloomy and humid lol; I cut out a tag shape and nestabilities shape for sentiment and flower.  Stamped the background with an assortment of stamps from guess who - yeah you all guessed right - Tim Holtz,  distresed the number strip and added a fragment to highlight JOURNEY this weeks theme, the flower was cut from same background from a lighter section scrunched up after spraying with water.
I like how this turned out as I was determind not to do an vintage grunge tag as always seems to just happen when I make a journey tag with Tims stamps
Thanks for popping by to have a look

Wow you should see the mess I made last night my desk is an horrendous mess  - perhaps I should post on WOYWW - am I brave enough - watch this space!!!!!!!

COMPENDIUM OF CURIOSITIES WEEK #6

Here we are again as happy as can be - omg can you see me skipping along singing this song - no, well good job its not a pretty site!! LOL.  Another Monday has come and gone which means another challenge for CC from  StudioL3 and the lovely Linda who has made Monday a joy and I can't wait for each one - I'm wishing my life away here I know but its all in a good cause - ART.
This weeks challenge is to....................... nope sorry you have to have the CC book and then join in all the fun it's a great book from the Master himself Tim Holtz and packed full of gorgeousness.  Enough waffle now and on to my piece for this week, I am making a page for each technique which I shall bind together at the end - except for last week I just had to make a hanging so will have to do last weeks challenge again - oh what a chore - not!!! I loved it; to add to the book.
I have used the TH alterations Die Hanging Sign cut in grundge board and DI rusty hinge - it does what it says on the lid and stormy sky and aged mahogany. The W6 (week 6) and flowers are grundgeboard from nature plain pieces pack were done...... in the technique..... and the background is one I made ages ago with DI and swooshed the inks onto the card, this was cut with a nesties labels die.

I also completed my book cover which I did in W#4 challenge, see here with this technique by adding CCC which are grundgeboard pieces from nature plain pack; the paper I used was from an old book from a car boot , the book is a pre decimal conversion book for all those of you in the UK who remember decimialization - I do unfortunately; lol.  I also stamped corners in walnut stain for the background page which was cut using TH on the edge die.
A double wammy this week and I got to play on Monday!! even though I couldn't post till today as too late to take piccies last night.

Thanks for looking and for all the lovely comments you have left in previous weeks I'm off to have a peek at all the other entries now

Compendium of Curiosities Challenge

Week#5 Distress Powder

Week 5 challenge over at Studio L3 run by Linda is nearly over and I have only just managed to play today - talk about last chance coral -  yikes!!!
I have made another hanging they  just seem to be my thing to make at the moment.  Sorry no techniques as promised.  Broken China distress powder was used with the wings stamp from Tim Holtz Collection of stamps.  You will see in the background I have used last weeks techniques - I love that one - and the flowers were cut from Tattered Flowers Die, TH, inked with faded jeans and glittered with cosmic shimmer twinkles sky blush.  Wish this was "feelie vision" as the distress powder is sooooo tactile I just have to keep touching it.

I am also entering it into the challenge at Sunday Stampers  run by Hels. The challenge which is shades of blue this week seems to fit my hanging and eeek it really is last chance for this one with only hours to go - but I missed out last week determined to play this week hopefully Linda and Hels won't mind sharing this little piece of my art; lol

Thanks for looking

Distressed.........

SHABBY CHIC - CC Challenge Week #4
Here we are again another week another CC challenge from Linda at Studio L3. When I first got TH book CC this was the first technique I tried and I love it so easy and great look, I say easy I made the mistake first time of using a stamp without much definition, so design was very "shabby" LOL - was it a mistake or a happy accident I'll let you decide I have posted picture at end of this post. ( the dark blue one)

Here is my art for this weeks challenge, This will be the cover to my book to hold all the challenges. There is a space on the front left for the tittle not sure yet what that will be, but I'm sure there will be another technique I can use for it over the coming weeks!!!!!!
I used Terra Cotta and Aqua Adirondack paint dabbers, the shape was cut using TH Alterations Die, I also cut the background piece of card with the On the Edge Alterations Die; which I have swiped with the same colour paints and sanded to distress. Stamps TH.

Another great challenge and thanks to you all for the lovely comments and for visiting my blog, will be round as many as I can over the next few days I love looking at all your art.

Here is the earlier one I did - mistake or happy accident?!!

I like it just haven't used it - yet!

Fly Free

I seem to have birds on the brain at the moment so I am going with the flow - my Mojo seems to have taken wings, think it is because I'm having a difficult time of it at present; so today I have been to my little craft room  and turned my thoughts to crafting and this creation is what appeared, so pleased with the result am I that I feel a set coming on........ watch this space!!!!
I am entering this into Gingersnap Creations GC57 Wings

Shape is cut from Tim Holtz Alterations Movers and Shapers Die in Grungeboard and Cordinations card stock, I sanded the card for a distressed look ; the Bird and Cage TH Alterations Die, I placed the bird outside the cage to be free, I embossed the card stock with cuttlebug embossing folder before cutting out, used TH DI shabby shutters over the bird and also the silk flowers and added brad to flower and gem for eye, added sheer white ribbon to bottom of cage and for the hanging; stamped words in shabby shutters cut with punch

Close up

I apologise for hanging on the chair to take piccy but that was the best light - couldn't move door to window!!!
